Pros: Interactive Designer, new interface, flexible content handling, direct manipulation of boxes and pictures, design grids, new shortcuts for tools, improved Bezier performance, universal file format.

Cons: Experienced users may have usability issues with new interface, pricier than InDesign, no support for PSD layer effects, page navigation controls require fine tuning.

  • Close but no cigar

The new version of Quark’s desktop publishing software, QuarkXpress 8, may be superior to previous releases, but it still falls short of Adobe’s InDesign CS3 intuitive interface and usability.

Recently switched to InDesign, much prefer it now. Even without YTD or Smartstream InDesign has data merge built in for variable jobs.
